What Courses Will Your Child Take?

Each grade level at Alpha Hybrid Academy is designed to build on essential skills while preparing students for the next step in their academic journey. Here’s what you can expect:

6th Grade: Building Strong Foundations

English Language Arts: Students acquire a foundational understanding of the reading, writing, language, and speaking/listening skills necessary for success in college, career, and beyond.
Mathematics: students will experience new ways of solving problems through interactive and engaging activities
Science: this course introduces middle school students to the disciplines of life science, physical science, and earth-space science
World History: students will learn about the great civilizations including but not limited to: Ancient Egypt, China, the Greeks and Romans

7th Grade: Expanding Knowledge and Skills

English Language Arts: this course study the ways in which word choice and sentence structure contribute to developing perspective.
Mathematics: this course will cover key foundational concepts like exponent laws, scientific notation, and the Pythagorean Theorem will help prepare students for the next level of learning.
Science: this course builds on concepts introduced in the first course of the series, including the disciplines of life science, physical science, and earth-space science.
US History: In this course, students will explore the history of the United States and analyze the cause and effect in historical events.

8th Grade: Preparing for High School

English Language Arts: In this course, Students evaluate and analyze voice, purpose, diction, syntax, and rhetoric in historical speeches, informational texts, and classic and contemporary literature through guided readings, interactive practice, and formal assessments.
Pre-Algebra: Students will strengthen their skills in topics like linear relationships, functions, and equations, and learn new skills that prepare them for Algebra 1.
Science: Students learn about properties of matter, physical and chemical changes, atoms and the periodic table of elements, photosynthesis and cellular respiration, the universe, and the solar system.
Civics: In this course, students discover the rights and responsibilities of citizenship in the United States. They learn about the structure of the government and how it works at the local, state, and federal levels.
